Reflections
Greetings and blessings to all of you. This is the Advent season. Long ago the people were expecting Christ. The Word says in Isaiah 9:6-7 “For a child will be born to us a son will be given to us and the government will rest on His shoulders and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” He came. He lived. He died. He rose again sitting now at the right hand of the Father. We are waiting for Him to return. In Acts 1:10-11 the Word says, “Two men in white robes stood by them and spoke. ‘Men of Galilee’ why do you sta...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. God has promised never to leave or forsake us, so no matter what the circumstance we find ourselves in; we can count on His help. Jesus promised that after His resurrection and ascension back to heaven, He would send the Holy Spirit to come live within everyone who trusts in the Savior's sacrifice. (John15:26) Next to salvation the most important gift of God to every one of his children is the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us the power we need to deal with the world we live in and its unending conflict. We have three enemies the w...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. In I Thess. 5:19 the Word says, “Do not quench the Spirit.” You may ask how do we do that? Quench means to ‘put out’ or to ‘put a damper on’. It coincides with the Holy Spirit being like a fire as said in Acts 2:3 “and divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.” When we quench the Spirit, we put the fire out or we lessen the flames; which is the love and power of the Spirit as He seeks to carry out His divine purpose through us. For example, at our campsite we make a fire&hel...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. The Holy Spirit is needed. He is the source of our power. He is the source of power who meets our need to escape from the miserable weakness that grips us. He gives us the power to manifest the fruit of the Spirit that we need in daily life. All nine of them….peace, joy, love, gentleness, goodness, kindness, self-control, faithfulness, and patience. We need these in order to communicate effectively in order to relate to each other from the head to the heart. This is the saints “love language.” The Holy Spirit was given to us as a gift. (...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. It’s all about Christ. We are God’s children in Christ Jesus. We have been baptized into Christ. We are clothed with Christ. All believers are one in Christ Jesus. We belong to Christ and thanks to Him we are spiritual descendants of Abraham and heirs of the King. How do we know all of this? The Holy Spirit of course. The Holy Spirit works not only to give us awareness of the truth; He works to convince us of the truth. He convicts us of sin and of righteousness. I may think or realize, for example that it is wrong to steal. Yet if that realiz...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. When Jesus was no longer to be present on earth physically, He promised the Holy Spirit to be sent as God’s own presence within us. And because we have this divine presence in us, we are never abandoned. There were times that Jesus let us know about the Holy Spirit. Recall the Spirit that had descended as a dove to Jesus at His baptism (John 1:32). Remember Nicodemus. He had been told of the need to be born of water and the Spirit. (John 3:5). Then we have the woman at the well in Samaria. She was told that those who would worship God acceptably mus...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. We saints do not speak of the Holy Spirit much. We speak about God; about Jesus. But for whatever reason we do not speak on the Holy Spirit. We cannot live the Christian life without the Holy Spirit. “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God” (I Cor. 2:11) The Holy Spirit is a person (not a force) who knows the things of God and reveals to us what he Himself knows. Countless sincere believers are going astray by trying to ge...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. The filling or controlling of the Holy Spirit is a profound reality in the believers. Scripture teaches that the Holy Spirit is a Person. He is not an “it” -He is God. He is the essence of Jesus imparted to believers. It can be difficult to fully explain the Trinity. How can our finite minds take in God who is expressed in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit? It is also difficult to explain the Holy Spirit; however, He can be explained by some of His attributes. The Bible teaches us that the Holy Spirit is all power...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. The Word of God says, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” (Ex. 20:3) What does that mean for us in this day and age? Violating that commandment today for us is worshipping me, myself and I, other people, materialistic possessions such as your retirement home to come or your family or your car. In the OT they worshipped golden calves, they worshipped Molech; which included the murder of infants as a pagan sacrifice. They worshipped Dagon who was associated with farming, harvesting, and the anointing of kings. Did you know that God has ma...
(Read More)Greetings and blessings to all of you. Scripture teaches us about wisdom. The Word speaks of “the value of wisdom”. In Proverbs 2 it says, “If you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding... yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding; if you seek it like silver and search for it as hidden treasures then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding; He stores up...
