Greetings and blessings to you all. As you know already by what has been taking place in our society that the Christian belief system is “not in vogue”. Jesus warned us in the scriptures John 15:18-25 “If the world hates you know it has hated Me before it hated you.” Jesus goes on to tell the disciples that he chose them to be different because “you are not of this world.” He tells the disciple why the world feels this way about them. Jesus said, “because they do not know the One who sent Me.” Do you still want to evangelize? Do you still want to represent Christ in the public square with your voice as well as your behavior? How much clearer can Christ make it? The world will hate you!!! Your allegiance is with Jesus. They hate you because the world know you are not willing to conform to their values of abortions on demand, socialism, transgenderism, unbelief in the God of the Bible, perversion of every kind, open drug use without an arrest, or lawlessness, soft porno on the media exemplifying very low morality. As you read the headlines on your news feed and read Voice of the Martyrs-Christians in Nigeria and around the world are being shot, beheaded, scourged, crucified, and burned alive. What were their crimes? Blasphemy against Islam. Owning a Bible. Taking communion wine. They receive the death penalty just for confessing Christ as Savior and Lord. However, some of us have entered into the world of politics because we have learned through this blatant hatred that the affairs of the state, city or nation have been hijacked by a corrupt and immoral society. We as the people of God ought not to retreat from politics. Instead, we must reframe and reshape the conversation by developing a politics that looks more like the Kingdom of God than the kingdom of this world. Sometimes you and I may feel we are alone fighting this battle that is for God alone- that He could not use us. Elijah felt that way when his task was to go against the Baals (devil worshippers). God told him that He had preserved a faithful remnant of 7,000 people in Israel who had not bowed down to Baal. God always has a remnant especially in these times of political and cultural shake-up. Scripture directs us to live in the city of man as citizens of the city of God. As a famous theologian said, “as citizens, our Christian faith should compel our public witness by standing for the principles of Christ.
