Greetings and blessings to all of you. America will be 250 years old on the 4th of July. Since 1776 the thirteen American colonies declared independence from Great Britian to form the United States. The adoption of the Declaration of Independence (DOI) was signed to construct a nation where the rights of people are not granted by kings, but ordained by a Creator. There were grievances against the king in Great Britain one of which was the issue of slavery. Even today there are erroneous teachings that the DOI was about slavery and not freedom. However, in this legal document it states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Our creator was and is a loving gracious merciful God who created all of us to have human rights and dignity. But because of Romans 3:23 the Word states “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” justice has been difficult. The people of God have always been in a “spiritual battle” trying to live by the Word of God and live with the tyranny of the Godless. The men who signed the DOI proved that they (like us) have a God given responsibility to steward all of creation, including the realm of government. They knew it is God who is the ultimate ruler, the Kings of kings, the Righteous Judge, and the true Lawgiver, and they knew He has called us (that is you and I) to partner with Him in a redemptive mission over all creation. A theologian and a historian have stated, “ if you raise up generations to believe that the Bible is not true, that the Bible is not the foundation for your thinking, and you send them to the present increasingly very secular, anti-God education system, and let them be indoctrinated through the anti-God secular media so there are brainwashed into thinking it is man who determines truth, then ultimately anything goes.” The DOI led to the Constitution and Bill of Rights, paving the way for greater degrees of freedom to be embraced throughout history. The signers knew from their Christian wisdom was that all people despites inequalities are equally children of God. Take God out of the equation equality disappears. But because of these courageous men they created a document that honored Christ and what He wanted for the humans He created. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA this 4TH OF JULY!!!
