Greetings and blessings to all of you. In the Bible Matt. 16:18 it is stated, “On this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. Christ will build His Church… and it will not be with the latest marketing or branding promotional stratagem. Christ began his church by first laying the foundation. In ancient construction the cornerstone was the first stone set ensuring the entire structure was aligned and stable. In 2nd Peter this chapter tells us about the living stone and a chosen people. “As you come to him the Living Stone rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him you also like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. See I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.” The church is built on Truth and centered on Christ. It has been prophesied that some people are straying away from sound doctrine and adopting false teachings contributing to the decline in attendance. The word states in I Tim. 3-4 “for the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead to suit their own desires they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn away from truth and turn aside to myths.” People of God have the time come? Do you and I have itching ears? The stats show that young people today are showing a renewed openness to faith and many are finding their way back into the church and not just on Zoom. It is important that the chosen people of God be relational manifesting the fruit of the spirit so by our attitude and behavior we will be their role model that will help them to begin building their faith. We mature Christians will continue to be convicted of sin and encouraged to persevere as God speaks to us through His word. Since Christ is the builder- the contractor (if you will) He has given us people who will assist Him in building His church (the Body of Christ) to hinder foolishness and deception. He chose Pastors to teach the truth. He chose servants commonly called Elders and Deacons. He chose people who are encouragers, givers, helpers, those who have administrative skills, etc. God Builds His Church!
