Greetings and blessings to all of you. God loves His church; the people called out unto Him to honor and glorify Him. The goal is to develop the church in such a way as to make it what the Lord wanted it to be…. a church of Truth, a church desiring to be Disciples of Christ to serve His Kingdom. Christ is not looking for people to casually join and occasionally attend. Jesus wants people who will lay down their lives to follow Him on His mission. and rid ourselves of self- centeredness. Today there are a lot of people who come into a building to sit with the “church” …. or referred to as the Body of Christ. These people have an attitude of apathy. They go to church today only if it is convenient or if they “feel like it.” They are not serious about hearing the Truth. Some of the people who come into the building are the progressives. They have bought the lie of relativism and attend church every now and then. They have joined the ‘culture war’ where it is said “truth is personal and subjective.” Choices are made without the knowledge of God’s existence. They defer to an “autonomous self” like the woman who says it is ok to abort because the fetus because it is “just a clump of cells”. They say no religion is exclusively true…they believe that one religion can be true for one person or culture- but not for another. Another group that attends church are like consumers…with the “what’s in it for me attitude?” They come looking for personal benefits such as good entertainment, a place to network for business prospects, good coffee, when hot- an air conditioner that works, and when it is cold- an excellent heating unit, convenient parking and please have short services so that it will not interrupt their day. Ask yourself…do you come to the building looking for a group of people who can never get enough of the Truth because it is like food- like living water-like it is life itself? If you say no then ask yourself…. how can you move away from this dangerous thought of spiritual apathy? A British writer said of today’s “church folks; “they give little thought to the purpose of what and why they are “in the building. The Bible talks about the Bride of Christ but the church (Body of Christ) today seems like a raggedy Cinderella sitting among the ashes.” To give her the beauty and honor she should have; we have to focus on the right things. We have to receive the zeal for Truth and we have to focus yourself away from yourself…and zero in on Christ and the church life.
