Greetings and blessings to all of you. As growing maturing Christians, we have vowed to live not by lies and to defend the truth that defeats evil. How do we do this when our love ones and others that we minister to have swallowed the many lies in our society? By understanding that their hearts have been seared. “It refers to the conscience or moral center of a person’s heart that has become desensitized and hardened to sin, truth, and the conviction of the Holy Spirit.” Jesus being fully God and fully human understood the perverse sinfulness of human nature; sent His messengers (the 12 Disciples) into a hostile world to proclaim his message of redemption. We are His messengers in today’s society. We are called to courageously defend the truth and at the same time be willing to endure the consequences. Is this task difficult? In Mark 4:15 Jesus tells his disciples a parable (a story with a definite meaning). He explains the soil is the heart and the seed is the word of God. If the heart is hard and callous Jesus says, “this are the ones along the path where the word is sown; but when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them.” This heart is the most difficult to minister to. Why? That person is adamantly closed to Jesus. He is uninterested in hearing about Christ or the values and teachings of God and therefore is unable to hear. In I Cor. 2:14 the word says, “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Before Christ… ministering to others was difficult- today it is just as difficult. Why? There is a worldview that seeks to divide society, overthrow truth and replace God with political power. It is goal of the Pharoah like hearts folks to tear down the family (abortion being encouraged) silence the church (mandate closures-preach love but not justice and truth) and reshape culture in its own image by deconstructing Christianity using new vocabulary or changing the meanings of words to fit the current media narrative. In ministering the word to the culture consider the heart of the person. And since you and I do not KNOW the heart of a person you and I must deliver the message knowing God has to be the one to prepare the soil. So that person will receive the word and grow.
