Greetings and blessings to all of you. God is doing a new thing. Do You believe that? Do you believe that even when you and I have health, financial, relationship issues? Remember Covid? When we face baffling affliction -our pain/fear lures us toward feeling sorry for ourselves. At this point we are only one step from self-righteousness where we keep track of life injustices and say “Look what happened to me ..life is so unfair…Why me? After all I am not like the others? We may feel like blaming God and stop fellowshipping, stop reading God’s word. Stop sharing the Gospel with others. Recall God is a God of purpose/reason. In Isaiah Chap.43 the Word of God tells us how God is loving on the Israelites as they returned from being a captive in Babylon. Broken, feeling hopeless, and depressed they called on the Lord. God said to them, “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old, Behold I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert the beast of the field will honor me the jackals and the ostriches; because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert; to give drink to my people- my chosen; this people I have formed for Myself -They shall declare my praise,” Since life can be difficult and we are His sheep ..we must listen to our Shephard. Recalling how God has worked in our lives might help us take our minds off the present situation and can give us HOPE that it will improve. Our response should be a Godly response. Always thinking Biblically. Reacting instead of responding to sufferings in our lives will be fleshly not spiritual; manifesting in bitterness, frustration, anger and self-pity. Reading Bible accounts of God’s goodness will focus our thoughts on God’s ability to help us rather than on our inability to help ourselves. He has given us many promises that we can trust/ believe and live by faith and not fear and anxiety. He has given us role models to follow in the Old and the New Testament. The Psalmist (David) writes in many verses “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad- I put my hope in God- I will praise him again my Savior My God. God is doing a new thing. There is something to look forward to. We are anticipating a time when all sorrows will be wiped away in the new heavens and earth. StayGrateful.
