Greetings and blessings to all of you. We glorify God best by being like Him…The Word says, “You shall Be Holy; For I am Holy” (I Peter 1:16) The attributes of God being Omnipresent, Omniscience, Merciful, Immutable and now…. Our God is a Holy God. The prophet Isaiah exclaimed with distressed in Isaiah 6:5 “Woe is me for I am ruined1 Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King the Lord of hosts,” when he was in a vision in the heavens and he saw the Almighty. At that point he recognized and became painfully aware of his sinfulness; it almost traumatized him. He experienced a profound sense of unworthiness. We humans cannot match God’s holiness but what we can do is come to the Lord with faith and humility. As Simon Peter experienced his deep shame over his sinfulness he said, “Go away from me Lord , for I am a sinful man.” And when we read in Psalm 51:17 “the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and a contrite heart. O God you will not despise.” In Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” We must realize our personal depravity so we see ourselves as God sees us. We have learned to live with unholiness and have come to look upon it as the natural and expected thing. But God’s Holiness stands apart, unique, unapproachable, incomprehensible and unattainable. Man cannot even imagine God’s holiness. God’s first concern for His universe is its moral health, that is its holiness. Whatever is contrary to this is necessarily under His eternal displeasure. The holiness of God, the wrath of God and the health of the creation are inseparably united. God’s wrath is His utter intolerance of whatever degrades and destroys. Each year we have Christians going to church but less spirituality and less holiness. The Word says, “without holiness no one will see the Lord” (Heb. 12:14) These days it appears that anyone can come in to the church house and never get saved and begin ‘the change’ and still declare he is righteous before the Almighty. We have lost the fear of God and His Holiness!!! Christian leaders have submitted to un-Christian ideas and have forgot that it is the Almighty who called them to their position. The church is called to teach the flock Holiness and how to maintain it. God will hold us accountable…especially the pastors/teachers.
