Greetings and blessings to all of you. In Malachi 3:6, I am the Lord Jehovah, I change Not. That is God’s attribute of being IMMUTABLE. One of the most aggravating feelings is thinking we know someone because he/she has proven daily to behave a certain way then without notice they change. You now have to figure out what happened. You ask yourself …. why did they change? Was it something you said or did or is that person going through something that they did not want to share even though you thought you were friends? People change but God does not. Everything Changes. Our bodies change. Our minds and our opinions shift as we grow and mature. Plants grow. Seasons change. Society evolves and devolves. Technology changes. Even our spouses change through the years. We live with change all the time. But God is perfect. He does not need to go from worse to better or vice versa. God has no need to be restored or to be mature or refined. A perfect being would never change. Would you want to serve a changing God? Is it not a comfort to you to know that you are in a relationship with a person who is steady, reliable, and trustworthy because they are not ‘flaky’? We serve a God who “is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrew 13:8) We can be inconsistent, prickly and up and down…we have to be able to read people -because they can be complicated. But God -His plans and purposes never change. You always can trust God. In Num. 23:19 the Word says, “God is not human that he should lie, not a human being that he should change his mind.” In this crazy right is wrong and wrong is right time era we need a God who is in control of this world and remain faithful to His promises. When we are in a storm of life, we quote Psalm 62:1-2 “My soul waits in silence for God only from Him is my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.” Because God is unchanging in our time of need- when our world seems to be falling apart- we need a foundation that is incapable of cracking; incapable of shaking. We find comfort in Psalm 102:25-27 that says, “even they will perish but You will endure; like clothing you will change them and they will be changed BUT you are the same…”
