Greetings and blessings to all of you. Today is a day to celebrate Fathers. It is only right to do so since we just celebrated Mothers. Our society is attempting to redefine masculinity in ways that contradict what God had in mind when he established the family unit. But that is not going to happen….as long as the earthly father follows the Word of God…the Bible. Jesus Christ is our example of being the “real man”. He was submissive to His Father (our Father) even though He is God and spiritually speaking we are all His kids. He left the man with Biblical instructions on being a spiritual leader in the home as well as being the leader where God has called him to be. That might be a Pastor in the Body of Christ, or maybe in society as a politician, judge, supervisor, or his own boss, etc. It is important to note that biblical leadership is not about control and power, but about serving and caring for others. Did Jesus do that? Of course He did… with much grace, Divine love, humility and the authority that came from His Father. (Matt. 28:18). In John 14:30-31 the Bible reads, “I will not speak much more with you for the ruler of the world is coming (Satan) and he has nothing in Me but so that the world may know that I love the Father I do exactly as the Father commanded Me.” Besides Jesus Christ as the role model for the male leadership role.... throughout the Bible we read about Adam, Abraham, Joshua, and the Disciples. All of them were disobedient/sinful at times…but all were willing to sacrifice for the good of others…all of them exhibited a heart for God. Joshua even said, “if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord- choose for yourselves today whom you will serve whether the gods which your fathers served…the gods of the Amorites …but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” (Josh. 24:15) This day is celebrated as a reminder that God wants the leaders(male) to deal with the 4 areas that seem to entangle them. They are sexual immorality, passivity, pride, and his identity. But God….He can take care of all those issues. The male leaders just have to die daily and submit to the King of King and Lord of Lords; worshipping Him in all that he does and speak- at work, at home and in recreation. Fathers fear God and be that instrument in God’s hand!!!
