Greetings and blessings to all of you. In Deut. 29:2-4 the Word said, “Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them, ‘You have seen with your own eyes everything the Lord did in the land of Egypt to Pharoah and to all his servants and to his whole country all the great tests of strength, the miraculous signs, and the amazing wonders. But to this day “the Lord has not given you minds that understand, nor eyes that see, nor ears that hear.” That is a very sad statement indeed. Despite all they had experienced Israel was still spiritually blind to the significance of what the Lord had done for them. The Lord had not given them an understanding heart, simply because the people had not expressed a sincere remorse of their sins or wrong-doings. In Cor. 7:10 Paul spoke about a Godly sorrow that will lead to true repentance that brings joy to our salvation as opposed to a worldly sorrow that lack genuine remorse which can lead to spiritual harm or even death. Have we succumbed to the lies of the enemy…Satan and his imps? In 2nd John 1:7, the Word says, “for many deceivers have gone out into the world.” Do you believe that? Describing Satan in John 8:44, “He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar and a father of lies.” In 2 Cor. 4:4 “In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they will not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” Are we like the Israelites? Are we true Christians or just professing Christians? God is sovereign. He knew their hearts which were very hard so God allowed them to be blind of the truths and believe the lies of the evil one forfeiting an abundant and an everlasting life. Read Consequences of Obedience and Disobedience in Deut. 27 and 28. Spiritual blindness is the inability to perceive or understand spiritual truths. It stems from factors such as pride and self-righteousness, influence of the world, laziness or unwillingness to seek spiritual growth, sexual immorality, not adopting a Biblical worldview and a lack of awareness to the spiritual war that is going on in the world. Understand that Satan is working overtime to keep the professing Christian blind.
