Greetings and blessings to all of you. It is important that we begin reading the Word of God every day and living in the power of the Holy Spirit. Why? Because the Word is life; it is the living water that we need to quench our thirst in a world that is living like there is no God. In our time dispensation we would consider our autonomy (the self-life), our career, entertainment, money, and material items as our gold, silver or stone as our idols. In the O.T. people worshipped those as their idols; anything but the God of the Bible. In the book of Acts 17:22-30 Paul explained to them who the real God is that they should be worshipping. He said “the purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him-though He is not far from anyone of us. For in Him we live and move and exist…and since this is true, we should not think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone.” Saints, know this. God has saved us to be His own as His servant. We are to live out this life worshipping Him alone. We are not to live as if God has not been there for us. When we are tempted to grumble or complain we should never forget how He has protected us and provided for us. We must go back to the Bible and read Deut. 4:9 “But Watch Out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! In the Corinthian church Paul ministered to them to stop the ungodliness. They were filled with greed, envy, wickedness, deceit and anger, etc. He was reminding them to abandon their old ways and behave in their new identity as children of God. He reminded them that they were now indwelt by the Holy Spirit and adopted into the family of God. He told them to stop worshipping their “respectable sins”. Repent not only for the good of the church but for others. In the O.T. the Israelites were coming into a culture full of idolatry and licentiousness. So, they were told in Deut. 4:6, “Obey them (rules and regulations given by God)) and you will display your wisdom and intelligence among the surrounding nations (the culture). When they hear all these decrees, they will exclaim, “how wise and prudent are the people of this great nation (the Body of Christ).” Reading, obeying, meditating and repenting should be a daily exercise for the Christian who want to grow in and with Christ. There is power in the Word of God.
