Greetings and blessings to all of you. Christmas will be celebrated in the US on December 25th. Are we going to shop until we drop? Are we going to decorate our homes and yard with many lights? Are we going to eat like we are never going to have food again? Or are we going to meditate on the true meaning of Christmas? Zacharias announced the birth of Jesus into a spiritually dark world as was prophesized in Gen. 3:14. In Romans 1:21 “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks but they became futile in their speculations and their foolish hearts were darkened.” The state of some of us as professing believers as well as unbelievers today is the same as in the O.T. Darkness plagued the earth because people lived with a sense of frustration and futility as they attempted to please fleshly appetites that are never satisfied. The light of Jesus Christ lets people see themselves as they really are.. sinners in need of a Savior. Read Phil. 2:6-8 “who being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness and being found in appearance as a man he humbled himself….” Where Jesus humanity is concerned He was made flesh and blood and was like us in every respect except for one: He was without sin; only Jesus can save us from sin. (Heb. 4:15) That is what and why we are celebrating His arrival in the manger as the baby Jesus. Christmas means(more) of Christ in our daily lives…so we could have that abundant life He promised including Eternal life. Hallelujah!! When we were saved Christ came to live in us as the Holy Spirit the third person of the Trinity. Our job as believers must begin with the willingness to be nothing so that the Holy Spirit can be everything in the believer. The measure of God (Christ) that is in your life is the measure of your life that you have yielded to God. Let us embrace the celebration of Christmas. As we praise the Lord let us remember why He came and our response. Do Not Forget…Jesus had a purpose in life. He came to show us how to live, walk, and talk as spiritual people. He came so we can have Eternal Life and a full intimate relationship with the Father He knew so well. Honor Him. Love Him. Follow Him. Merry Christmas!
With the Love of Christ
