Greetings and blessings to all of you. In a few weeks, we will discover who will become America’s next president. Many Americans will be belated while many others will be dejected. A lot of people believe that if one particular person is elected instead of the other, it will signal the end of our country as we know it. Before jumping on that bandwagon, however, everyone should recall these Scriptures about God’s sovereignty and providence. “Before You created the hills or brought the world into being, you were eternally God, and will be God forever.” (Ps. 90:2) and “The Lord controls the mind of a king as easily as He directs the course of a stream.” (Prov. 21:1) Almighty God remains in control of our entire world. He allows leaders to make selfish and/or stupid decisions just as He allows you and me to do the same. But God can even use those choices for His purposes. Therefore, we believers must pray for our leaders (I Tim 2:1-2) and trust that God is still working in His world (John 5:17). Even though we know that God is sovereign as it says in Daniel 2:21“He changes times and seasons He removes kings and sets up kings. “He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding,” in our culture today some pastors and church leaders are afraid to speak boldly and honestly about the cultural decline from the pulpit for fear of alienating their flock. But it is been said that all political and social issues are Kingdom issues such as slavery during the Civil War years or Racial Segregation recall Revd. M. L. King, the abortion issue, and national defense. The Word of God has always helped when a nation was experiencing moral, social, and economic decline. Why? Because Scripture holds the final and authoritative answer on all life’s concerns. Are we fearing Man more than the Almighty? Because God is sovereign meaning that God is accountable to no one. All things are either caused by Him or permitted by Him. So, all of us including church leaders need to recognize His supremacy over everything. In Proverbs 1:7 “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Humanism continues to introduce socialism and communism to suppress Christianity; to leave out the one true God entirely. Saints remember, “The Lord has established His throne in heaven and His Kingdom rules over all.” Psalms 103:19 says, "There is JOY in knowing the Lord."
