Greetings and blessings to all of you. Have you wondered what does God think of our church? Are we worshipping Him like he expects? Are we giving as we ought? God does have expectations of His children and His church. That is why he gave letters to seven churches in the book of Revelations. Let’s say it was a “progress report” or a “report card”. God has questions and concerns… He wants to know what is our Worldview? Do we see the culture with the lens of Christ and does it show in our actions and beliefs? Do we live as if Christ is our reality or is He just someone we know a little about but we don’t have to take Him or what He says serious? Do we know who Jesus is and the impact He had on the world? God’s report card for our church may include the question: Christian how are we serving the community or the place where God has you now? Today many Christians think they need to withdraw and remain in their holy huddle until Jesus returns, and we dare not come in contact with the world lest we sully ourselves. But God has not called us to escape; He wants us to influence every square inch of this planet before He returns. The church of Pergamum was a faithful church in the midst of a pagan world (Rev. 2:17). He loved their loyalty even when one of their members Antipas was martyred by Satan’s devotees. However, he had a concern. It appeared that there were two groups of people who called themselves Christians but they were very liberal on what sin is…they caused the God’s chosen people the Israelites intermarry thereby bringing idolatry and fornication into the church. The church was also introduced to the motto “live and let live” into the church. God warned us not to use our freedom in Christ as a license to sin. Galatians 5:13 “for you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Jesus said to that church “REPENT.” He said, “I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth”. Take note... Christians who continue to rationalize and embrace immorality by perverting grace and embracing false teachings are at war with Jesus Christ...Jesus will deal with us through his Word. We as a people of God would be wise to heed what the Bible has to say. But first you have to read it, meditate on it then apply it. He has/is writing a letter to us.
