Greetings and blessings to all of you. It’s difficult not to fret about the evil in our world. Even if you did not look at the news ...you know it’s there. David had to run from his enemies who wanted to kill him. But he was able to say during that awful period in his life “Trust in the Lord and do good dwell in the land and enjoy safe pastures. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37: 3-4) The sin we have now is no worse now than in the other generations. It only seems so because we now have the ability to transmit information quickly and visually. In Deut. 1:35 God called that generation evil. Even then we are told “do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for like grass they will soon wither like green plants they will soon die away. (Psalm37:1-2) The people who are not of God will do evil things. The Word says, “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexuals’ offenders nor thieves nor greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” So, we as Christians cannot allow the world to influence our thinking or behavior. We must stand against the evil. Until the new heavens and the new earth arrives evil will be here. Therefore, we must know where our loyalty lies. We have to be loyal to Christ. I know sometimes we have cried out to the Lord “Why is this happening?” What is going on?” It can feel like walking through a long dismal tunnel with no light at the end. Maybe you even felt like Job who longed for the brighter days of the past. “Oh, that I was in the months gone by as in the days when God watched over me; when His lamp shone over my head, and by His light walked through darkness” (Job 29:2-3). But we cannot give up by compromising nor isolating while those that embrace, celebrate and propagate evil…continue on. The end of God’s story is coming soon. Jesus will come back to make things right. All people will be judged with Perfect Justice. Wait on the Lord in much Prayer.
