Greetings and blessings to all of you. Christ’s birthday may not be Dec. 25 but it is as good as any day to celebrate the Incarnation of the King. Don’t you think? And whether you have Christmas lights or trees that is irrelevant. A long as you can center the celebration on God’s gift of His Son. And how about this season we choose to emphasize the incarnation over commercialization? Choose simple gifts over lavishly expensive gifts. In the First Century some… by eating meat that was sacrificed to idols thought they would be indulging in “pagan worship” as opposed to eating meat purchased from the meat market. Paul said in (1 Cor. 8:4-8) “So then about eating food sacrificed to idols….food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.” Saints, if you heard that Christmas traditions are “pagan practices” check you heart or belief system…it is not a salvation issue. During Christmas maybe we can begin new traditions; as a Christian family we could read Luke Chapter 2 to our family. Or maybe as we open up our gifts, we could recall the greatest gift of all Christ Jesus. Or we could recall how and when Christ saved you and I giving us the Gift of Eternal Life. These activities will help us focus on Christ. We may be aware of Christ but it is so easy to get caught up in the sentimentality of the manger scene without falling down in worship at the wonder of God in human form. The Lord declared that a child will be born signifying a human birth, yet at the same time a son will be given. (Isaiah 9:6) In the Christmas carol ….
God rest you merry gentlemen let nothing you dismay remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas day to save us all from Satan’s power when we were gone astray. O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy o tidings of comfort and joy.
Christmas is about a Deliverer. God said He was going to send his own Son to save them from eternal death. “But when the time had fully come God sent his son born of a woman born under law to redeem those under law that we may receive the full rights of son (Gal.4:4-5) Do you understand that you and I have a reason to Celebrate…
