Greetings and blessings to all of you. Today we are blessed with honoring Fathers all over the world. The importance of Biblical Fatherhood is more consequential than ever. The impact that a dad can have on sons and daughters (in this ungodly culture) is immeasurable. The phone company (back in the day) reported that calls on Father’s Day were are not as high in number as calls on Mother’s Day and most of them were collect. Nothing has changed much in terms of honoring the father. Unfortunately, the high priority of the role of the father is being systematically attacked and destroyed in our current culture. In our nation we have a loss of a vision of manhood. Our young sons are growing up in an increasingly feminized world. The high priority of Scripture is that fathers teach their sons, and thus raise up a generation of godly leaders. As fathers go, so go the nations, so go generations, so goes history. If fathers are to raise a generation of godly men who will lead the women to godliness, they must teach the truths that are mandated in the father’s manual. In today’s culture they want the fathers to just spend time with their sons, you know go fishing, play ball, follow the son’s interest. Things like that. Nothing is wrong with that. Fathers should do that. But most important…and much deeper than going to a sports events with your son is to teach holy living to his sons. The Fathers are to teach their sons wisdom that is to have discernment in this wicked world we live in. The Word says, “A wise son will make a father glad; a foolish son will be a grief to his mother.” Holy Living begins with the fear of the Lord. Godly men should learn from their fathers a reverential respect, and a reverential awe of God. Fathers must teach their sons the attributes of God. It is difficult to serve a God we do not know about. We will have a difficult time trusting a God when we do not understand God’s right to punish, chasten, and judge. The Book of Proverbs says fearing the Lord is more profitable than wealth. It brings about life. It keeps one from evil. It breeds humility. The sons then will have confidence in the Lord and his prayers will be answered…but not how and when the son expects… that’s God..His ways are not our ways. So, fathers be Men of God not Worldly-Wise men…we have that in abundance….that has influenced our men to the nation’s destruction..
