Greetings and blessings to all of you. In Proverbs 29:2 it says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” It has been said that some of us are ambivalent about our government. Therefore, you may have decided not to vote. But when you think about the activities sanctioned by the government like judicial decisions relating to unborn infants, pornography, sexual values, immigration issues, high taxes or misuse of money; you may change your mind. You might have chosen the road of apathy and noninvolvement. You may think that we should wash our hands of the political process. Maybe you ask yourselves, “do God expect us to respect corrupt or tyrannical leaders who are immoral and deceptive?” Yes, only if we are respecting their position and they are following what God expects. No, if they command something that God forbids, or forbid something that God commands, we must disobey. There are times when we must disobey those in authority over us. God is the ultimate authority, the Final Judge, the Highest King. All rulers must answer to Him. We must obey Him first and all times. We are not to resort to ANARCHY but disobey after exhausting all legal channels and do so respectfully noting there will be consequences but continue to pursue biblical objectives. I know it is difficult to decide who is worthy of this important office; however, if you would consider which one aligns himself or herself with our Biblical worldview or who commits to implement policies that would honor God then He will do the rest. Our Constitution was made so WE THE PEOPLE could govern ourselves by voting and electing our officials. It is our God given responsibility to uphold this privilege. That is the one way that God has given us to pursue peace, truth, and prosperity. Edmund Burke a member of the parliament in the 17th century and a philosopher said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Saints we are not a Democrat or a Republican. We are the people of God. We must remember that our struggle is not against people but against the powers of evil in this dark world. (Eph. 6:10-13) Therefore we are not to be consumed by the problems of this life, as others are who have no hope. Our Hope is found in Christ! GO and vote accordingly.
