Greetings and blessings to all of you. In I Timothy 4:1-3 the Apostle Paul predicted a falling away from the Christian faith within the Church. The defection from the faith was already occurring in his time and He believed it is like leaven. It will continue to spread until the end of this present age. In 2 Thess. 2:3 “let no one deceive you by any means for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction.” Paul specifically referred to the “unrighteous deception” in which people depart from God’s truth. Paul goes on to describe this as “the mystery of lawlessness” a set of beliefs contradicting “the truth”. This deception or lie is what Satan has always foisted on mankind- that we do not believe or obey God’s Word. There is a definite change of direction in our culture. This change has a name…Postmodernism. It is a philosophy that believes “absolute truth” does not exist. Postmodernism holds that all truth is relative (relativism) and what is right for one group is not necessarily right or true for everyone. For example, Christianity teaches that sex outside of marriage is wrong, while Postmodernism says that those rules do not apply to today’s society – that’s not progressive that is archaic. Consequently …. what do you notice happening in our time? Sexual immorality is welcomed and never condemned. Recall when a young couple got “in trouble” or pregnant. It was a very sad, bad scary predicament. But now … take a 3 day later pill or just have an abortion…problem solved. Sexual immorality continues. Many traditional families’ values were considered to be illegal such as lying, theft, drug use. Now they are is not considered wrong. They say that is “judging”. What has happened? Some politicians, news reporters, a lot of people lie as a rule. Even the ‘fact checkers’ lie. Theft is reduced to an amount and a fine..that’s it. Go to your nearest Walmart and you see theft in action. The thief knows he is not going to jail. Drug use is not prohibited but is tolerated as long as one is willing to enroll in a treatment service. The person says OK knowing the waiting list for the government funded treatment is over a 2-year waiting list. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6) But the Postmodern thinker rejects the Bible ..he wants to reconstruct it. Why? Easy…To match his lifestyle. Christian are we practicing Postmodernism?
