Greetings and blessings to all of you. What is a Biblical Worldview (BW) and why is it important to the Christian to develop it? Understanding the verse in Hebrews 11:3 which says “by faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible” explains that FAITH is at the heart of the BW. BW is like a computer operating system. A Worldview is the operating system for human beings. It tells how to think and how to behave. Whenever we are about to make a decision, we unconsciously run it through a mental, spiritual and emotional filter/faith bank that allows us to make choices consistent with what we believe to be true, significant and appropriate. For example, an atheist believing the universe began with the Big Bang and that everything is the product of matter, motion, time and chance having a naturalistic, and materialistic worldview; will make hundreds of decisions daily affecting our culture. We now have secular progressive leadership that is currently making crucial decisions that are directing our educational institutions, social media, movies, art, music, our social and political system. They are influencing our relationships, money habits, behavior on the day to day all being contrary to the life of Christians. So how are we to think in our decision-making? Our BW says, “whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.” (Phil. 4:8) To have a BW is in essence ‘thinking like Jesus.’ It is a way of making our faith practical to every situation we face on a daily. Having a BW will help us deal with the world like Jesus because “we have the mind of Christ.” (I Cor. 2:16) It’s is like having a pair of special eyeglasses that enables us to see things from God’s viewpoint and to respond as He would. How do you and I develop a BW? It is very simple. Read, study, meditate, on the Word of God. That is where you are going to find Christ and get to know Him. You will establish that strong relationship that is needed; especially now when right is now wrong and wrong is now right; and if you have been hurt by the church or view Christians as harsh or uncaring. So saints, Cultivating a BW is a must!!!
