Greetings and blessings to all of you. Memorial Day is tomorrow. What does this mean to the Body of Christ (you and me)? While God wants us to remember our fallen soldiers and the soldiers that continue to stand for our country God want us to realize that we are part of this country (we are the soldiers of Christ) even though the powers that be want to place us on the margin. God said, “remember the days of old consider the generations long past…” Deut. 32:7 We as Christians are supposed to have a powerful influence over this country wherever God has placed us because we are the salt and light. We have a responsibility to pray and vote in people who practice the principles of Christ or at least love what God loves. In turn that leader will have our military …protect our country from the evil forces of other countries; but there has been a neglect of duty. We as Christians are about True Peace and True Freedom that is only found in Christ. But as it has been from days of long ago our leaders have tried to run our country without God. In First Samuel 8 God’s chosen people Israel ask for a king. They got tired of walking by faith…they got tired of following Christ. They wanted someone in the “flesh”. The elders came to Samuel and said, “You are old and your sons do not walk in your ways now appoint a king to lead us such as all the other nations have.” God being full of grace and mercy. “He loves whatever is just and good and his unfailing love fills the earth” (Psalm 33:5) said OK but with consequences as told in verses 10 thru 17. The final verse says, “when the day comes you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the Lord will not answer you in that day.” Are we like these people from the past? Did we choose people who do not care about the things of God? What are the results? Murder, diseases, economic distress, mental issues, general confusion, suicides, etc. Nothing has change ..we have those things now. On this day we remember that we are running a race “throwing off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us and let us run with perseverance the race marked cut out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith.” Following Christ is unpopular. and a challenge but we are called as soldiers to fight the fight of faith. On this Day let’s take up the Cross…and defend our country honoring Christ.
